Gingham is an abstract strategy board game designed by Robert Hovmian and published by Bitewing Games. Released as part of their portable “Travel Line,” the game features a highly interactive and aggressive theme where 2 to 4 players take on the roles of rival ant colonies competing for sweets scattered across a picnic.
- Theme & Setup: Players act as ants invading an abandoned gingham-patterned picnic blanket. The board is seeded with various sweet tokens (e.g., cupcakes, cookies, pies).
- Core Mechanics: It utilizes route building, network collection, and a clever turn-order mechanic inspired by traditional card game trick-taking.
- Play Time & Complexity: Matches last 20 to 40 minutes and offer a tight, tactical “mean” abstract strategy experience.
