The game is played over four seasons (spring, summer, fall, and winter) with each season having two phases (day and night). During the Day Phase, players will deploy five workers onto the City Board. Each worker placed with earn goods and may also permit the player to take a Lantern Action. During the Night Phase, players will sell their goods to customers.
Day Phase
Players will place workers on to Districts or Lantern Districts in turn order out into the city to collect goods.
When workers are placed in a specific pattern, combos are created which generates additional goods.
Double Combo
Gain two goods the one you place on and the one in between.
Triple Combo
Gain three goods, one good for each worker in a row.
Lantern Action
When a worker is placed on a Lantern District, the player may forgo taking goods and instead take a Lantern Action – Hire Chef, Build Stalls, Attract Customers.
Hire Chef
Pay the cost under the left-most Chef Meeple on your Player Board. Then immediately place the Chef Meeple onto any District and take the matching Good along with any combos that you triggered. Remember that Chef Meeples DO NOT perform Lantern Actions and they may only collect the good. Your Chef will now function like a worker when making combos!
Build Stalls
To build Stalls, pay the amount shown under the Marker Cube on your Player Board in the “Build Stalls” row, then move the cube one space to the right. Take any two stalls of your choice from the stall display and place them on any open space on YOUR Player Board. Once placed they may not be moved.
Attract Customers
To attract a customer take any single Customer from the display. Place that Customer on the left-most available customer space on the bottom of your Player Board. You must pay the cost that is covered up.
NIGHT PHASE
During the Night Phase, players will be simultaneously be placing their goods onto Stalls, Signature Stalls, and Delivery Scooter locations.
Placing Goods
You may place your goods into any of the stalls that you have in your market.
You want to place goods in your stalls to fulfill the customers you have since they will be looking in particular places for goods. Once you have placed all the goods that you have into available stalls and scooter locations, you may sell the goods to the customers and tally the money you made.
At the end of a season, all players will evaluate their progress to see who won the season bonus. This will set the player order for the next season.
The Solo Experience is a welcomed addition to this wonderful worker placement game. The success of the Night Market has caught the attention of other businesses in the area and AI Mart is looking to take customers away from the Night Market.
AI Mart will challenge players to not only seek out the best strategies while moving through the four seasons it will also play differently each time you sit down to play. Sturdy high quality components will help to drive this experience to a wonderful game state that you will want to come back to again and again.
