A Thief’s Fortune is a card game for 1-4 players in which each player represents a different possible future of the same character. By visiting different locations, interacting with local characters and making sure that certain events you have seen actually happen, you try to find the path that will lead you as far away as possible from danger.
A Thief’s Fortune is a competitive Card Drafting & Engine Building game for 1-4 players that lasts 45 to 90 minutes.
The game revolves around a Thief who has just come across a mystical item that allows him to see glimpses of the future.
Each player represents a different timeline of that character and through the various choices and actions of each player, separate alternate paths are formed.
By visiting various Locations, interacting with local Characters and making sure that certain Events you have seen, will actually happen, you try to find the path that will lead you as far away as possible from danger and at the same time gather as much fortune as you can.
During the 5 rounds of the game, players gather Fortune Points with the player who has the most being the winner.
In front of each player there are 3 different and distinguishable spaces, starting from the right hand side to the left: the Future, the Present and the Past.
Α game of A Thief’s Fortune lasts 5 rounds with each of them having 4 different phases:
1. The Planning Phase
You draw 5 cards out of the 3 piles (at least one from each pile) and you draft them as shown below:
Whenever you play a card, it is placed in your Future with the resources shown in its loot area on top of it.
2. The Loot Phase
You get a number of resources from cards in your Future. Cards left without any loot on them are then moved to your Present.
3. The Action Phase
You use the cards in your Present Area. You can perform up to 2 actions on your turn like Activate a Character, Activate an Event or Spend Time to get more resources from your Future.
4. The Bribe Phase
Finally, in this phase, you bribe guards that are in your tail in order to avoid getting caught. For each Danger that you have, you need to spend one Basic Resource, otherwise you lose Fortune Points.
